Board Meeting – 06.14.23

LAKE COUNTRY CLASSICAL ACADEMY – BOARD MEETING MINUTES
June 14, 2023, 6 p.m. (Virtual)

Our Mission: to train the minds and improve the hearts of our young people through a content-rich, classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue.

  1. Open Meeting:
  • The meeting was called to order by Board President & Chair, Kristina Vourax, at 12:03 p.m.
  • Notice of this meeting ran in the Waukesha Freeman on Saturday, June 10, on the LCCA website, and at both school campuses. All LCCA board members were present, along with LCCA Head Principal, Margaret Daigneau, and LCCA Business Manager, Lori Kaari.
  • LCCA Mission was read aloud by the board chair.
  • The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
  • Motion to approve the board meeting agenda was made, seconded, and all approved.
  1. New Business:
  • The 2023-2024 preliminary budget was presented by Margaret Daigneau (see attached). The second reading and board vote will take place at the 6/28 regular board meeting. A few highlights include:
    • Anticipate an increase in per pupil funding that would increase LCCA’s revenue from $9,2 64 to $11,000 per student. This funding increase is NOT currently reflected in the ‘23-’24 preliminary budget or the 5-year projections. If Senate Bill 330 is signed by Governor Evers, the funding increase will be reflected in the final ‘23-’24 budget presentation in October.
    • Expect medical insurance savings in ‘22-’23 and in ‘23-’24.
    • Anticipate construction costs for both East and West construction projects to come in slightly under budget.
  • 5-Year Budget Projections were presented by Margaret Daigneau (see attached).
  • The revised LCCA Uniform Policy (second reading) was presented by Margaret Daigneau (see attached). This policy was presented for approval outside of the ‘23-’24 Family Handbook in order to have it finalized prior to the Uniform Resale the last weekend in June. One minor change was made to the policy since the revised policy was presented on 5/17 regarding skirt length for girls. The policy states the following: “Length must be no shorter than the mid-point between one’s knees and fingertip length.” Motion to approve the revised LCCA Uniform Policy was made, seconded, and all approved.
  1. Meeting Adjournment: Motion to adjourn at 1:10 p.m. was made, seconded, and all approved.
